10 tips for optimizing server and Commerce software performance

It doesn't matter whether you use a rented remote server or a computer in a store, warehouse, or office, any "machine" requires periodic maintenance and careful handling.

We have collected 10 useful and simple tips for you to optimize the performance of your server and the Torgsoft program.

 How much hard disk space is required for the program to work properly?

 It is recommended to keep at least 15-20% of the free space on the disk where Torgsoft is located.

 You can set your PC to go to sleep or hibernate and disconnect the hard disk at the same time?

 The computer should not enter sleep/hibernation mode, and the hard disk should not be disconnected during periods of computer inactivity. To do this, you need to configure the computer's power management circuit.

 Does it matter on which disk (system disk (C), disk (D), etc.) the Torgsoft program will be installed?

 It is advisable to place the directory with the program and database on a disk other than the system disk (not where Windows itself is installed).

 If the program is already installed on the system disk (drive (C) where Windows is installed), can I move it to another disk?

 You can, but you need to stop the application server, licensing, and SQL Server. If you have a database located in the directory with the program, you need to unlink the old database location in SQL Server. Then copy the program to a non-system disk (for example, drive (D)). Then you need to bind the database from the new directory of the Torgsoft program in SQL Server. After that, run the Torgsoft program. The program should automatically start the stopped components.

 How can I increase the speed of the program?

 To increase performance, we recommend using SSD drives. SSDs are faster, quieter, more energy-efficient, lightweight, and do not require defragmentation.

 Does the use of an antivirus and/or firewall, firewall affect the operation of the Torgsoft program??

 If you use a firewall and/or antivirus, you need to make sure that their settings include rules that allow the operation of services and program components, and do not block ports necessary for the program and a number of additional options.

 What can be done on Windows to increase the performance of Torgsoft?

  • It's more suitable for older PCs or laptops - you can simplify visual effects or disable them altogether.
  • Disable unnecessary programs in the startup that can run automatically, consume computer resources, but not bring much benefit to your work.
  • Disable unnecessary services (for client PCs, not servers).
  • You can use power management schemes to reduce the amount of power your computer uses, increase performance, or balance the two (Power Management Scheme Settings).
  • Disable the standard defender in the system and use Malwarebytes, for example.
  • Another built-in cloud service that you can disable/uninstall if you don't use it is OneDrive.
  • Disable the built-in Cortana assistant.
  • Disable Windows Advisor and notifications from apps.
  • Disable the disk indexing service in the system, which is especially useful for SSDs.
  • Disable the built-in Xbox Game DVR app.
  • Uninstall unused Windows applications.
  • Disable unnecessary Windows background programs.
  • Defragment the hard disk if it is an HDD, or disable it altogether for SSDs.
  • Restart your computer at least 2–3 times a week.
  • Delete temporary files.
  • Carry out timely maintenance of your PC.

 What can be done with Torgsoft to make it work faster?

  • One option is to install a full version of SQL Server.
  • Ensure that the program has closed periods that are no longer in use.


 It takes me a long time to calculate the cost price, how can I speed up the calculation process?

 Setting up automatic costing outside of business hours can speed up costing.

 I often have power outages and as a result the database gets damaged, what can I do about it?

 To prevent damage to the database and SQL server due to a power outage, use an uninterruptible power supply and configure the software to shut down the operating system correctly.
