Product name formation
20.12.2024 17:24How is the product name formed in Torgsoft?
The product name in the Torgsoft program is formed according to the structure of the Product Type and added characteristics, based on the settings of the Product Name Formation Rule.
What should the product name be in the Torgsoft program?
In the Torgsoft program, the product name is a key element that helps both in internal work and in interaction with customers through the online store. It is important to create a name that is informative, unique, and understandable.
Main requirements for the product name:
-
Conciseness: The name should be short enough to read and understand easily.
-
Informative: Include the most important characteristics of the product, such as type, brand, model, color, or material.
-
Structured: Follow a consistent order of characteristics. For example: Brand + Model + Characteristic. The structure of the name depends on the correct formation of product models.
-
Uniqueness: The product name must be unique to avoid confusion between products, especially when creating product models.
How to create a correct product name?
-
Use standard templates available in the Torgsoft program settings:
Settings → Parameters → Product → Naming → Product Name Formation Rule.
These, along with the Product Type settings, allow you to configure the structures for creating the product name.

-
During Creating product type in the settings, you can choose the option to include the product type name Included in name in the product name, or uncheck this box. In this case, the Product Type will not be added to the product name. Additionally, during product type creation, you can define which characteristics will be included.

More detailed information about each element of this section can be found in the Torgsoft technical documentation help.torgsoft: Menu items > Product knowledge > Product type
Important tips
-
Do not use the Description field in the product card as the main description, as this text may end up in the product name. It is better to create a Dynamic characteristic "Product Description" in HTML format for this purpose.

-
When creating product models, exclude secondary characteristics (e.g., Color, Size, Material, and in some cases, Product Description) from the Product model naming rule settings if they are not needed for the main model.

Example of product name formation for product models:
-
Torgsoft Product 10 Lite 4/64 GB Black
-
Torgsoft Product 10 Lite 8/128 GB Red
-
Torgsoft Product 10 Lite 12/256 GB Blue
Model name: Torgsoft Product 10 Lite.
Additional characteristics (memory size, color) are displayed as separate parameters in nested product models.
More details on creating models are described in the article: Creating product models
Naming settings for different sales channels
If your products are exported to other platforms (e.g., Google Merchant Center, Rozetka, Hotline, Prom), consider the specifics of each channel:
-
For Google Merchant Center: Specify the brand, model, and key product characteristics.
-
For marketplaces: Add keywords that customers use to search.
Recommendations for using characteristics
1. Choose the most important characteristics for creating the product name:
- For electronics: Memory size, model, color.
- For clothing: Size, color, material.
2. Avoid overloading names with secondary information.
- Excessive details, such as long technical descriptions or marketing phrases, may complicate perception and confuse the customer. Leave secondary information for the product description or additional parameters.
