What is a product description?

Product description is textual information that provides a detailed description of the characteristics, properties, and purpose of the product. 

A product description usually includes the following elements:

• Key characteristics: size, weight, material, color, functionality, etc.

• Purpose: what the product is intended for, in what conditions, and for whom it is best suited.

• Advantages: what distinguishes the product from its analogs, and what are its main advantages.

• Usage instructions: how to use the product correctly to get the most benefit.

• Composition: in the case of food or cosmetics, a detailed composition may be necessary.

• Guarantees and certifications: availability of quality certificates, warranty period.

A good product description helps the consumer better understand the product and make an informed purchasing decision.

How to describe a product in Torgsoft? 

To describe a product in Torgsoft, you can use two methods: describe the product using Dynamic Characteristics or in the admin panel of the Torgsoft Online Market. Here we will explain how to do it using Dynamic Characteristics. 

 It is important to note that you should not confuse the Product Description with the Description field in the product card. The Description in the product card is part of the product name, whereas the Product Description in the Dynamic Characteristics is a detailed description of the product's features and purpose.

Let’s create a dynamic characteristic Description: 

• In the Description parameter settings on the right side of the window, select Category > Directory.

• A form Category parameter > will open, enter a name, for example, Online Store > confirm with Save.

• In the Description parameter settings, in the Name field, enter the characteristic Description.

• In the Field Name, enter description_html.

• In Data Type, select the type name Text > then check the box next to Store in HTML encoding.

Installing the dynamic characteristic Description in the product card

• Select the Warehouse > Stock Status > window, open the product we need.

• In the Product settings in the Additional product parameters section, select the Description from the list of Dynamic Characteristics.

• In the Description field, select Edit, a text entry window will open where you can describe the product.

 To synchronize the dynamic characteristic Description with TOM, it needs to be added to the Sync File with the parameter description_html.
