Causes of disability have changed in the eHealth system

From June 4 to August 31, electronic sick notes were issued in a test mode. Starting September 1, all healthcare facilities will have to switch to e-sick leave. Along with the change in the form of sick leave, the reasons for disability were also updated.

Electronic sick leave certificates do not have a series; instead, e-sick leave certificates are assigned a unique number. When filling out an application for benefits from the Social Security Fund, you must indicate not only the number of the sick leave certificate, but also the reason for it.

Please note! Until September 1, employees may bring paper sick notes, for example, if an employee continues to be ill or if an employee goes on maternity leave. In paper sick notes, the reasons for disability do not change and remain the same as they were. But in the case of e-sick leave, the reasons for disability will be different.

There are twelve reasons for disability for e-sick leave:

• "1 - Temporary disability due to an illness or injury not related to an accident at work";
• "2 - Pregnancy and childbirth";
• "3 - The need to care for a sick child";
• "4 - The need to care for a sick family member";
• "5 - The need to care for a child under the age of three or a child with a disability under the age of 18 in case of illness of the mother or other person caring for such a child";
• "6 - Quarantine established in accordance with the law";
• "7 - Prosthetics with placement in a hospital of a prosthetic and orthopedic enterprise";
• "8 - Staying in the department of a sanatorium and health resort facility";
• "9 - Temporary transfer of the insured person to a lighter, lower-paid job in accordance with a medical report."
• "10 - Staying in self-isolation, observation during the quarantine established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to prevent the spread of acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2";
• "11 - Temporary disability due to an occupational disease";
• "12 - Temporary disability due to an industrial accident".

If the sick leave certificate was issued to the employee in paper form and in electronic form, the employer must fill out a separate claim for each such sick leave certificate. Even if the reason for the disability is the same in both sick leaves, the FSC will not accept one claim.
