The book of comments and suggestions has been finally canceled
23.10.2020 09:20Almost a year ago, the book of comments and suggestions was made an optional document. Retail and restaurant businesses could remove it from the consumer's corner at their own discretion. And finally, by Order No. 1130 of 16.06.2020, the Ministry of Economy finally canceled the Instruction on the Procedure for Maintaining and Using the Book of Reviews and Suggestions, and on 02.10.2020, this order entered into force, and the book of reviews became invalid, as the order was published in the Official Gazette on October 2.

What should be in the consumer's corner now?
The consumer corner should still contain the following documents:
- the Law on Consumer Protection;
- entrepreneur's documents;
- contact details of the Consumer Protection Department;
- trade rules (depending on the product and type of trade).
No one has canceled the consumer corner, and businesses should continue to place it in a visible and accessible place for customers.
Where can a customer complain now if the review book is canceled?
To protect their rights, the buyer may:
- contact the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (you can call or leave a complaint in the section: "Public relations" → "Citizens' appeals");
- call the Government hotline;
- contact the State Fiscal Service;
- contact local authorities;
- contact local authorities;
- go to court;
- leave a review or suggestion on the Internet;
- send a paper or electronic appeal to the postal or e-mail address of a store, restaurant, etc.
What other changes will take place under Order No. 1130?
Starting from October 02, 2020, a business entity may duplicate product information in a national minority or regional language at its own request. That is, information about the product must be provided in the state language and may be duplicated in another language.
The next innovation is that businesses engaged in retail sales of goods by weight (e.g. grocery stores; second-hand stores that sell clothes by weight) must monitor measuring equipment, it must be in good condition, must be verified and contain a verification stamp.
Another innovation: retailers must have documents for the goods they sell at their points of sale.
Finally, small retailers were allowed to sell alcohol and tobacco products.
