How to register a cash register and obtain a registration certificate: a guide for entrepreneurs

The Central Interregional Department of the State Tax Service informs that the registration of a payment transaction registrar (ECR) is carried out at the main place of registration of an entrepreneur. A cash register is a device or program used to record sales of goods and services.

Steps for registering a cash register

Submitting an application:

  1. An entrepreneur or his/her representative submits an application for registration of a cash register (form No. 1-ECR) to the supervisory authority. This can be done in person or through an electronic cabinet.

Required documents:

  1. An entrepreneur's representative must have documents confirming his or her identity and powers.

Filling out the application:

  1. The application must be signed by a director or individual entrepreneur. All sections of the application must be filled in. If the application is submitted electronically, electronic identification is required.

Submission in electronic form:

  1. Documents can be submitted through an electronic cabinet or telecommunication means, in compliance with the laws of Ukraine on electronic document management.

Consideration of the application:

  1. The supervisory authority considers the application within two business days. If there are no grounds for refusal, the registration of the cash register takes place within this period.

Obtaining a fiscal number:

  1. After registration, the supervisory authority reserves a fiscal number for the cash register and sends it to the service center (CSO). The certificate of fiscal number reservation is valid for three business days.

Commissioning:

  1. The CA puts the cash register into operation, seals the device and sends the relevant documents to the supervisory authority. These activities must be completed within three days.

Completion of registration:

  1. After receiving the sealing documents, the supervisory authority registers the cash register and issues a registration certificate.

Example:

Petro, a shop owner, decided to register a cash register for his business. He filed an application in the electronic cabinet, attached all the necessary documents, and signed it with an electronic signature. Two days later, he received a fiscal number. Petro transferred the number to the service center, where his cash register was sealed. All the necessary documents were sent to the supervisory authority, and the next day, Petro received a registration certificate.

Important to know:

  • Registration can take place both in paper and electronic form.

  • Follow the deadlines for submitting documents to avoid canceling the fiscal number reservation.

  • The choice of the method of obtaining the registration certificate (by e-mail or mail) must be indicated in the application.

How to get a registration certificate for a cash register?

You can get a registration certificate for a cash register in several ways, depending on how you applied for registration:

  1. Through an electronic cabinet:

If you applied for the registration of a cash register through your electronic cabinet, the registration certificate will be available there. You will be able to download it electronically.

  1. By e-mail:

When submitting your application, you can indicate that you would like to receive your registration certificate by e-mail. In this case, you will be sent it to the specified email address.

  1. Directly at the supervisory authority:

You can choose to obtain a registration certificate in person at the supervisory authority. In this case, you will need to come to the authority at the place of registration of the cash register and obtain the certificate.

  1. By mail:

If you choose this method, the registration certificate will be sent to you by mail. It is important to pay the cost of postage in advance and provide the appropriate postage stamps to the regulatory authority.

Example: Maria, a café owner, applied for registration of a cash register through the electronic cabinet and chose to receive the certificate by e-mail. A few days after registration, she received an email with a registration certificate. The choice of how to receive the registration certificate must be indicated in the application for registration of the cash register.
