In today's business landscape, successful entrepreneurs adhere to the principle of diversifying their income, not limiting their activities to one area. Having multiple sources of income makes a company more resilient to economic fluctuations.

Managing, for example, ten stores at the same time is quite a feasible task, but it requires a high level of organization, planning, and delegation of authority from the entrepreneur.

The key to this process is to create a management system that will allow each outlet to be autonomous and generate maximum revenue with minimal involvement of the owner. This concept is reflected in many areas of business.

An example of the implementation of the "10 stores concept"

Let's analyze the experience of one of the entrepreneurs, an auditor of the ISO 9000 system, an international quality management standard for production, service provision, and general organization of work. Business owners who have implemented these standards are obliged to ensure that their goods and services meet high quality standards that meet global requirements, thereby reducing the need for additional inspections.

In addition to product certification, the EU concept obliges companies to apply management systems as a guarantee of the stability of the quality of their products and services.

Using the principles of ISO 9000, this entrepreneur has successfully expanded his business to ten different stores, including a consulting firm, skateboard and bicycle shops, a pawnshop, a music store, an online retailer, and more.

Thanks to the ISO standard, he minimized his direct involvement in the management of each of these areas, while gaining significant profits and the opportunity to free up time for self-development and improvement of business strategies.

Key tips for business development

The use of ISO 9000 in business is a good example of how you can develop and scale your business while ensuring high product quality.

However, let's take a closer look at the basic strategies of an enterprise that will help owners improve their existing business and increase profitability.

1. Develop a sustainable business model

Make sure your business model is adapted to growth. This means developing process standards that can be easily implemented in new locations and under new conditions.

For example, the introduction of a franchise model, as the Starbucks café chain has done, allows for rapid business scaling using the investment and experience of franchisees.

2. Implement technology

Automate processes with the help of modern technologies, including inventory management systems, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and POS (Point of Sale) systems. This will help reduce errors and increase efficiency.

For example, the automation of store accounting helps to quickly streamline work at all points of sale, manage inventory, and control processes from any location. And the use of a customer relationship management system (CRM) allows a retail chain to collect customer data and generate a history of their purchases, plan marketing activities, and provide personalized offers.

All this contributes to a better user experience and increased customer loyalty.

  • These functions are available in the Torgsoft accounting program.

3. Focus on human resources management

It is important to hire employees who are proactive and willing to learn. Staff motivation is the key to success. Develop leadership qualities in your salespeople, implement employee motivation and reward programs. Delegate responsibilities to employees and monitor their performance using an automated program.

In Torgsoft, you can set up a system of payments and incentives for each salesperson: the program itself calculates salesperson salaries, overtime, hourly pay, charges a percentage of the goods sold, links sales of specific goods to the salesperson, and many other functions.

4. Create a stable logistics system

Optimize the supply chain to ensure smooth warehouse operations and timely delivery of goods to each store.

Be guided by world leaders. See how Amazon uses logistics centers with automated sorting systems to minimize order processing time and shipping costs.

An accounting program will also be useful in this regard. It allows you to track the entire life cycle of a product and its journey from supplier or manufacturer to consumer; see the current situation in the warehouse; control supplies and prices to avoid shortages or surpluses in stores; adjust orders for batches of products in anticipation of a decline or increase in demand, etc.

All this will help to avoid delays and problems with delivery and improve logistics.

5. Data monitoring and analysis

Analyze marketing data to make decisions. Regularly monitor sales, inventory, and customer satisfaction metrics to quickly respond to changes in demand and improve operations.

For example, Zara analyzes real-time sales data to quickly identify fashion trends and adapt production and inventory in stores.

Thanks to the detailed trade reports available in the Torgsoft accounting program, you can analyze data for a specific period. Various financial reports help an entrepreneur to see the overall picture of business: the level of sales, expenses, stocks of goods, whether settlements with suppliers and partners are carried out correctly, what markup to set on goods, what are the amounts of the cost of sales of returns, discounts, etc. What is the turnover, profit, profitability, etc.

6. Expand your network carefully

Plan your scaling by analyzing the market and ensuring financial stability before opening new stores.

For example, before entering a new market, H&M conducts a detailed study of local preferences, demand, and the competitive environment. This data will help to achieve the set goals without losses.

7. Take care of customer service

Provide a high level of customer service in every store. Improving customer service can be your competitive advantage.

Nordstrom, an American luxury menswear chain, is known for its high level of customer service, which includes a personalized approach to each visitor and a flexible return policy.

8. Research the market and trade trends

Conduct regular market research. A deep understanding of market needs allows you to be one step ahead of the competition and offer goods and services that will be highly valued by consumers. Be the first to offer certain services in your city. To do this, use modern marketing methods, such as A/B testing of the audience, comparative marketing analysis of competitors, and other business development strategies.

For example, in the Torgsoft program, ABC and XYZ analyzes allow you to analyze the assortment of the store and determine, depending on the volume and uniformity of sales, which products should be in sufficient quantity and which can be withdrawn from circulation.

9. Constantly learn and adapt

Be open to new ideas and constantly look for opportunities for innovation in your business. For example, the well-known American company Netflix constantly adapts its content strategy based on the analysis of views and user preferences, which allows the company to remain a leader in the field of streaming services.

Focusing on understanding and meeting customer needs, developing employees, automating accounting processes, and implementing quality management systems are the foundation for sustainable business growth and expansion.
