
Seller motivation: personal sales tracking
One or two checkouts and several departments with sales consultants is a common working scheme in non-food goods stores. This method has its advantages: there is no need to spend money on purchasing equipment for each seller’s workplace, or time on training staff to work at the checkout; there is a specialist in the sales area who will help the buyer decide and choose a product. Also, fewer employees come into contact with money.
But when there is one checkout and the goods are divided by departments, the buyer takes goods from several departments. In this case, the ability to motivate sales consultants is lost, because there is one receipt, but the goods in it are from different departments and from different consultants.
How to motivate sellers to help the customer and keep track of personal sales?
The additional option «Linking the sale of each item to the seller» automates effective motivation of sellers for personal sales.
How the «Linking the sale of each item to the seller» option works in Torgsoft
The program requests the sales consultant’s badge before scanning each item. Thus, each sold item goes into the personal tally. Information about goods sold by the seller can be viewed in the mode Settings — Employee — Work analysis by period based on receipts.
How to account for sellers’ personal sales in a store
Four common ways to track personal sales:
- Each seller is given a strip of labels on which their own barcodes are printed using a label printer. When the seller gives the buyer a product from their department, they stick a label with their barcode onto the tag. The cashier needs to scan the seller’s label before scanning the item.
- The barcodes of all employees are printed and attached to a tablet, and are kept at the checkout with the cashier. When a buyer comes to the checkout, the cashier, looking at the product or at the paper receipt, determines from which department the item was sold and scans the barcode of the sales consultant from that department.
- The seller personally brings their buyer to the checkout and lets the cashier scan their barcode.
- The seller gives the buyer a card with their barcode. At the checkout, the buyer gives the goods and the card to the cashier.
Connection with other options and requirements
The option «Linking the sale of each item to the seller» is included by default in the additional option «Payroll calculation and staff motivation system». That is, if you have «Payroll calculation» activated, then individual sales tracking for sales consultants is already available to you.
