Barcodeless inventory: how to create your own inventory and print a label
Posting goods that do not have a factory barcode is a standard procedure in the Torgsoft software. The system allows you to automatically generate a unique internal code, create a product card, and immediately print a label for marking.
Here is a step-by-step algorithm of how this is implemented in the software:
1. Creating a product card and generating a barcode
If a product does not have a barcode, it cannot be scanned into the goods receipt note. Therefore, the process looks like this:
1. Creating the receipt note. Go to the Document — Goods Receipt menu, create a new receipt note (the Add or New Receipt button), specify the supplier, and click Save.
2. Adding the product manually. Since there is nothing to scan, click the Add button (the F4 key) in the receipt window.
3. Filling in the data. A new product card will open. Fill in the required fields: Product Type, Name, Purchase Price, Retail Price, Quantity, etc.
4. Automatic barcode generation. Leave the «Barcode» field empty. After clicking the Save button, the software will automatically generate its own unique barcode for this product.
-
By default, the software uses the prefix 29 for internal barcodes (for example, 2900000000012).
-
This code complies with the EAN-13 standard, where the last digit is a check digit.
2. Printing labels (price tags)
You can print a label with the generated barcode in several ways:
Method A. Immediately when creating the product. In the product card (which you fill in during receipt), there is a Print labels switch.
-
If you check this box before clicking the Save button, the software will automatically send to the label printer the number of labels you specified in the «Quantity» field for this product.
-
This is convenient if you use a dedicated label printer (for example, Zebra, Xprinter).
Method B. From the goods receipt note list. If you did not print the labels immediately, this can be done after filling in the receipt note:
-
In the Goods Receipt window, click the Print labels button.
-
Choose one of the options:
-
With own barcodes for the entire receipt note — the software will print labels only for those products to which it assigned a barcode itself (products without factory marking).

-
Print labels (quantity in the receipt note) — printing for all selected products according to the quantity in the receipt.
-
In a specified quantity — allows you to manually specify how many labels are needed for each product (convenient for saving paper or additional printing).

Method C. Through the «Stock Status» menu. If the product has already been received earlier:
-
Go to Warehouse — Stock St, click the Print button, and select Print labels for products individually or in the quantity in stock.
3. Setting up the template and printer
For correct printing, you need to configure the equipment and the label appearance in advance:
-
Printer selection. In the Settings — Printer Selection menu, in the «Labels (product tags)» field, specify your label printer (for example, Xprinter, Zebra). This setting is local for each computer.
-
Template setup. In the Settings — Print Settings menu for tags, you can choose the label size (for example, 40x25 mm, 30x20 mm) and configure the information that will be printed on it (Name, Price, Barcode, Size, Item No., Currency, etc.).

-
Barcode generation. If you have specific requirements for internal codes, you can configure prefixes in the Settings — Parameters — Barcode menu.
Summary. You simply add the product to the goods receipt note without scanning, and Torgsoft independently assigns it a code (starting with 29...) and offers to print a sticker, which you place on the product for further sale with a scanner.
