How the terminal server works
The use of a terminal server in your business infrastructure opens up great opportunities — it simplifies interaction between employees and facilitates work with the Torgsoft program.
The terminal server makes it possible to work remotely with the accounting program and server files using a personal computer, cash register, or even a phone.
Regardless of whether you rent a server from us or set it up on your own computer, you work on a remote server, which is very convenient — wherever you are, you can always connect via the Internet and work with the accounting program.
On Windows, the Remote Desktop program is used to connect to the server. This technology allows the user to work with a remote computer as if it were in front of him — to transfer data and keep records in the Torgsoft program.
Key elements of the remote desktop
|
|
PC — a computer from which you connect to the server (create a session). This can be your personal computer, a cash register in a store, or a computer in a warehouse. |
|
|
Session — a state when you are connected to the server via the Internet, remotely see the desktop of a computer that is located at a great distance from you. |
|
|
Server — a computer located in the data center that hosts the operating system. It runs the Torgsoft program and stores your database. |
Connecting to the server
When setting up a shortcut to connect to the server, we specify the user name under which we want to log in to the server. Now we are connecting to the server from a personal computer (PC) under the user name User. When connecting to the remote desktop of the server, a session is created, which is shown in the diagram as User.

We have access to the user's desktop on the server, which allows us to interact directly with the server and its files. This access can be obtained from various devices, such as a personal computer, a laptop in the store, or even a phone outside the workplace.
It is important to keep in mind that you can connect from one device under one user at a time. If you try to connect to the server with the same user from another computer, the previous connection will be stopped.

Connecting to a server with multiple users
For example, we have 3 users: Admin, User1 and User2 You can create an unlimited number of users on the server. When renting a server from Torgsoft, you get pre-created server users equivalent to the number of jobs in the program. But there are no restrictions on the number.

Ending a session on the server
Terminating a session indicates the termination of work only for a specific user, without affecting other users of the server. Even if all users log out, the server will continue to operate.
If you lose your Internet connection or experience other problems that may lead to the loss of access to the server, you will simply disconnect, but your session will remain active. You will be able to reconnect and continue working. The server is configured to automatically terminate the session if there is no connection for 5 minutes, although some programs or processes may block it. We recommend that you manually close the session when you finish working.

Ending the session frees up server resources, which speeds up the work of other users and removes unnecessary processes that accumulate during the session.
