Working with lists: quick search in tables (Ctrl+F) and search conditions
Torgsoft includes a universal tool for working with large datasets in tables — the Quick Search Bar (or “Filter by Column”). This tool lets you instantly find the required product, document, or record by filtering the table using specified parameters.
1. Activating Quick Search

The quick search bar is a standard component in most program forms (for example, “Stock Status”, “Sales”, “Customers”, etc.).
-
Hotkey. Use the Ctrl+F key combination to activate the search bar.
-
Interface. After activation, the cursor moves to a dedicated input field, usually located above the data table.
2. Configuring search conditions
Next to the search input field there is the “Search Conditions” button (often shown as a magnifying glass or list icon). It lets you configure two key parameters: where to search (the column) and how to search (the match mode).
A. Selecting a column to search
You can specify which criterion the program should use to filter the data.
-
Left-click the “Search Conditions” button.
-
In the drop-down list, select the required column (for example, Product name, Barcode, SKU).
-
The selected column in the table header will be highlighted or marked with a color, indicating that the search is performed in that column.
B. Selecting the search mode (Match type)
The program lets you define how the entered text is compared with the table data. The “Search Conditions” menu offers the following modes:
-
Match at the beginning (icon ab|) — finds records that start with the entered characters.
-
Match at the end (icon |ab) — finds records that end with the entered characters.
-
Match anywhere (icon |ab|) — the most common mode; finds a record if the entered sequence occurs anywhere in the cell text.
-
Exact match (icon =) — finds only records that are fully identical to the entered query.
-
Match by words — allows searching by individual words within a cell.
3. How it works and how data is refreshed

How results are displayed depends on the settings of a specific form:
-
Instant refresh. If the “Settings” (button “Settings” or Ctrl+E) has the “Refresh when filters change” toggle enabled, the program will start filtering immediately after you type, without requiring additional keys.
-
Manual refresh. If this toggle is disabled (for example, to speed up work on weaker PCs or with very large databases), after entering the query you must press Enter or the Refresh button (F5) to see the results.
4. Input language settings
In the “Search Conditions” menu you can also configure automatic keyboard layout switching when search is activated:
-
You can force a language (Ukrainian, Russian, English) that will switch on automatically when the cursor enters the search field.
-
The “Do not switch language” mode keeps the current layout unchanged.
5. Search in the Torgsoft Hybrid app

In Torgsoft Hybrid (for example, in “Stock Status”), the functionality works in a similar way:
-
Enter a value in the search field.
-
Click “Search Parameters”, where you tick the fields to search by (for example, Name, SKU) and select the match type (Match at the beginning of a word, Match anywhere, etc.).
-
Click “Apply filter” or press Enter to display the results.
Useful tips
-
Special characters. In Torgsoft Hybrid, it is not recommended to use special characters (%, [, ], _) in the search query, as this may cause the full list to be displayed without filtering.
-
Clearing. To reset the search and display the full list, use the Remove/Clear filter button (often shown as an X or an eraser).
