Transferring Torgsoft to another computer or server

This guide describes the safe transfer of the Torgsoft software suite, SQL database, and license to another computer or server while preserving all data and settings.

When Torgsoft transfer is needed

• Replacement or upgrade of a computer / server.

• Migration to Windows 10 / Windows 11.

• Transfer from a local PC to a dedicated server.

• Restoring operation after a hardware failure.

When the transfer cannot be postponed

• Physical shutdown or disposal of the old PC is planned.

• If only the IP address or network settings change on the same server, there is no need to transfer Torgsoft: it is enough to update the connection/access settings. Transfer is required only when the server itself changes, meaning another computer or another host.

• There is a risk of losing access to the license.

Before you begin: important warnings 

1. All actions must be performed with Windows administrator rights.

2. Do not delete data from the old PC for at least 3 days after launch on the new one.

3. Without the license removal code, free activation on a new PC is impossible.

Stage 1. Preparation on the old computer

1. Database backup

• Menu File → Database → Save Database.

• Save the archive (.mir or .arc) to external storage or to the cloud.

2. Recording versions

• Write down the Torgsoft version and the database version.

• The software version on the new PC cannot be lower than on the old one.

3. License removal

The safest option is not to remove the license yourself, but to transfer the data and files first, and then contact technical support: we will record the license removal on the old PC and activate it on the new one immediately. This reduces the risk of making a mistake and losing time on restoring access.

1. Launch Torgsoft.

2. In the yellow login window, click the blue “Licenses” link.

3. The software will request authorization, meaning the credentials of a user with license management rights are required, usually “Owner”.

4. In the list of licenses, find the active one — it is marked in green.

5. Select it and click “Delete” (deactivate).

6. After confirmation, the software will show the license removal code — copy and save it.

7. Send the code to technical support — this is required so that we can properly record the removal and issue a key for activation on the new equipment.

Important: do not delete the software/data from the old PC right away — keep the system as a backup for at least a few days after launch on the new one.

4. Stopping services

• Win + R → services.msc.

• Stop:

• SQL Server (...)

• TorgSoftService

• TorgsoftLicenceService

5. Copying files

• Copy the C:\TORGSOFT directory.

• Required: Program, Database, Photo.

Stage 2. Installation on the new computer

1. Environment preparation

• Perform a clean installation of Torgsoft on the new computer — SQL Server will be installed automatically during installation.

2. Restoring files

• Replace the contents of C:\TORGSOFT\Program.

• Do not copy AdminServer.ini if the PC name or IP has changed.

• Copy the Photo folder.

3. Database restoration

• Launch Torgsoft as user sa.

• File → Database → Load Database.

Stage 3. Setup and activation

1. Connection check

• File C:\TORGSOFT\Program\AdminServer.ini

• host=NEW_PC_NAME or localhost

• port=6001

2. License activation

• Send the removal code to technical support.

• Receive a new license key.

Stage 4. Checking the result

1. Log in as the owner.

2. Check the latest sales and reference directories.

3. Reconfigure receipt printers and scanners.

4. For software ECR — reinstall signature libraries and certificates.

How to prepare for the next transfer so you do not lose data/license

• Regularly check backups.

• Record the version before any updates.

• Store license codes separately from the PC.
