A chain of stores on a Terminal License: how to ensure that cash registers work when the Internet disappears

If you need to see consolidated analytics, move goods between stores, and maintain a single customer database, you need a Terminal license.
The question is no longer “one database or separate databases”, but how to keep POS checkouts stable if the internet goes down in your stores.
There are two implementation options:
Option 1. Remote RDP connection

All stores work directly on the server via Remote Desktop.
-
How it works: the cashier connects to the server over the internet. All operations (receipt, stock receipt, transfer) are recorded instantly in the main database.
-
Advantages:
-
Real-time data. You see sales and stock levels second by second.
-
Cost savings. The “Terminal” license already includes 3 workstations. Adding more workstations costs less than purchasing separate programs.
-
Disadvantages:
-
Dependency: no internet — the checkout stops. Sales come to a halt.
Option 2. Terminal + the “Torgsoft-Hybrid” option

This is a modern alternative to the old “separate databases” approach. It combines the benefits of a single database with offline autonomy.
-
How it works: a dedicated “Hybrid” module is installed on the POS workstation. It lets you scan items and print receipts even without a server connection. As soon as the internet returns, the system sends all receipts to the consolidated database.
-
Advantages:
-
Offline autonomy. The store keeps selling even if the server is down or the provider fails.
-
Reliability. You don’t lose customers during technical outages.
-
Disadvantages:
-
Additional cost. The Torgsoft-Hybrid option is paid — 2480 UAH per workstation.
-
Limited offline functionality. Unavailable in offline mode:
- Promotional sales.
- Item search by SKU during sales (adding it in the “Sales” form).
- Processing product returns.
What should you choose?
Given that packet-based exchange is no longer used:
-
If you have stable internet (fiber + Starlink/4G backup): choose Torgsoft-Terminal. It’s the simplest to administer and the most cost-effective solution. You get full control and real-time data with no extra spending on additional modules.
-
If the internet is unstable or you want a 100% guarantee that the POS will keep running: choose “Terminal + Hybrid”. This is the modern standard for retail chains that replaced the old setup with separate databases. You get both a single database and store-level independence.
Implementation cost
-
License: you need the “Terminal” license (includes 3 workstations) — 41000 UAH.
-
Server: you need your own powerful PC or a rented server (from 1250 UAH/month).
- If you need “Hybrid”: + the option cost of 2480 UAH for each store where there is a risk of internet outages.
