Creating a database archive in Torgsoft is a critical procedure for your business security. There are several ways to do this: manually through the program menu, automatically by schedule, or using an additional cloud backup option.

Here is a detailed instruction for each method:

How to create a DB archive

1. Manual Archive Creation (via Program Menu)

This method is suitable for creating a copy "here and now," for example, before transferring the program to another computer or before an update.

Go to the main menu item File (or Database in some versions).

Select Archiving -> Save Database.

In the window that opens, choose the path where you want to save the file (e.g., a flash drive or a folder on drive D). By default, the program may suggest the Torgsoft Log folder.

Click the Save button.

The file will be saved with a .mir or .bak extension. The filename usually contains the database name and the creation date.

2. Setting Up Automatic Archiving (Scheduled Tasks)

This is the recommended method for regular data protection without user intervention.

Go to the menu Settings -> Scheduled Tasks.

Open the Archiving Tasks tab.

Click the Add button (green plus).

In the settings window, fill in the following fields:
Name: Provide a clear name (e.g., "Daily Archive").
Category: Choose one of the options: Run daily at specified time (recommended to set a time when the store is closed but the computer is still on) or Run on program exit.
File retention period: Specify the number of days (e.g., 7 or 30). Older archives will be deleted automatically.
Task active: Set the toggle to enable execution.

Click Record.
Important:
By default, archives are stored on drive C:\ in the DatabaseArchive folder.
If you chose the "Run on exit" option, do not turn off the computer immediately after closing the program — allow it time to create the file.
Test the functionality by clicking the Create archive now button in the tasks window and ensure the file appears in the list below.

3. Automatic Backup to Google Drive (Additional Option)

If you have the paid "Data Security: Cloud Archive" option activated, you can set up backups directly to Google Drive.

Go to Settings -> Scheduled Tasks -> Cloud Storage Archiving tab.

Click Add and select the task type Database Archive.

Set the schedule (daily, weekly, etc.).

Click the Authorize button to grant the program access to your Google account.

After successful authorization, save the task by clicking Record. Archives will be sent to the TORGSOFT_CLOUD folder on your Google Drive.
Please note: The creation time of the local archive (on the computer) and the cloud archive should not coincide. It is recommended to set a difference of at least 10-20 minutes.

4. Manual File Copying (for System Administrators)

This method is used when reinstalling Windows or migrating the program to another PC, when you need to save everything (including photos and settings).

Close the Torgsoft program on all computers.

Stop the SQL Server, TorgsoftService, and TorgsoftLicenceService services via Task Manager or the "Services" menu.

Go to the program folder (usually C:\TORGSOFT).

Copy the DATABASE folders (containing .mdf and .ldf files), FOTO (if present), and PROGRAM to external media.

Troubleshooting Possible Issues

Archive is not being created. If the file does not appear in the "Archiving Tasks" window, check if the C:\DatabaseArchive folder exists. If not, create it manually.
Path configuration. You can change the path for saving archives via the menu Settings -> Parameters -> Service -> Configure Application Server.
Service issue. The "Application Server" is responsible for automatic archive creation. If archives are not created, try restarting the TorgSoftService or click the "Reinstall Application Server" button in the settings.
