Error 1072: service marked for deletion — Torgsoft server does not start
What Error 1072 means and why the Torgsoft server does not start
Error 1072 (The specified service has been marked for deletion) occurs during an update or reinstallation of Torgsoft services when Windows has not yet finished removing them. As a result, the application server is not installed or does not start.
This material is intended for users and system administrators who have basic skills working with the operating system, Windows services, and Microsoft SQL Server. All actions described are performed at your own risk: incorrect changes to settings, services, or the database may lead to data loss or the program becoming inoperable. Before making changes, it is recommended to create an up-to-date database backup, check free disk space, and make sure there are no active users in the system. If you are not confident in the correctness of your actions or understand the consequences, contact technical support.
When the error appears
-
after updating the Torgsoft program,
-
after an unexpected shutdown of the PC or server,
-
when reinstalling the application server without restarting Windows,
-
after antivirus software blocks service files.
How it manifests
-
the Error 1072 message appears,
-
the TorgSoftService or TorgSoftAutoService services do not start,
-
the application server cannot be reinstalled,
-
the service is present in the Windows services list, but no actions can be performed on it.
Why it happens
-
Windows has already marked the service for deletion, but:
-
the Services (services.msc) console is open,
-
the service is being used by another process,
-
the previous update did not complete correctly,
-
antivirus software blocked or removed the service files,
-
there is not enough free space on the system drive C.
How to fix it
Step 1. Restart the computer or server
This is the mandatory and main step.
After restarting, Windows:
-
finally removes the «stuck» service,
-
clears locks in memory and the registry.
In most cases, the error disappears after a restart.
Step 2. Update or reinstall the application server
After the system starts:
-
Start Torgsoft under the owner account (and under the server user account with administrator rights if the terminal version of the program is used).
-
Run an update or perform a manual installation of the application server.
-
Verify that the services were created and started without errors.
Step 3. Check the antivirus
If the error repeats:
-
check the antivirus quarantine (Avast, 360 Total Security, etc.),
-
add the Torgsoft program folder to exclusions,
-
make sure the service executable files are not blocked.
Step 4. Check free space on drive C:
-
make sure there is enough free space on the system drive,
-
if disk space is critically low, service installation may fail to complete correctly.
Step 5. If it didn’t help
-
a conflict of entries in the Windows registry is possible,
-
access rights to the PROGRAM directory may need to be checked,
-
contact a technical specialist for manual cleanup of leftover service entries.
How to verify the issue is resolved
-
the TorgSoftService / TorgSoftAutoService services start successfully,
-
the application server is running,
-
the Error 1072 message no longer appears,
-
the Torgsoft program starts without service-related messages.
How to prevent it from happening again
-
always restart the PC after updating the server,
-
do not run a repeated service installation without restarting Windows,
-
keep antivirus exclusions for the Torgsoft folder,
-
monitor free space on drive C.
Summary: the rule for choosing a solution
If you see Error 1072 → restart the system first.
Without a restart, Windows cannot complete the service deletion, and reinstallation will be impossible.
