Cloud storage Google Drive

Data synchronization with Google Drive

Loss of accounting and trading data can have serious consequences for any business, as it includes information about sales history, customer database, loyalty system settings, seller actions, and product photos. Losing such information is often more painful because its recovery can be extremely difficult or even impossible.

Torgsoft offers an additional option – database synchronization with Google Drive, which ensures the preservation and protection of important information. This feature automatically creates data backups and synchronizes them with Google Drive, guaranteeing reliable data storage and easy recovery in case of loss or program transfer.

How does integration with Google Drive work?

One-way synchronization with Google Drive in Torgsoft allows storing the database in the cloud, providing an additional layer of protection for your information. To configure the option, define the storage period of the database archive, during which the file will be considered current and will not be deleted.
The minimum archive storage period is 1 day.

Required conditions for automatic archiving

  1. Torgsoft license 'Start', 'Ultra' or 'Terminal'
  2. Additional option 'Data Security: Cloud Archive'
  3. Google account

Advantages of database archiving

Data preservation in case of an emergency. Archiving allows saving copies of the database in case of hardware failure, virus attack, or other emergencies. Archives allow quickly restoring the system and minimizing data losses.

Facilitating the migration process. Archived data can be easily transferred to other servers or stored on external media. This simplifies the database migration process in case of equipment change.

Convenience in working with data archives. The option allows easily downloading the needed archive and analyzing the data saved on a specific date. This is especially important for data reconciliation and auditing.

Regular backup. Archives should be made at least daily. The option performs archiving according to a defined schedule. A business owner can be confident in having up-to-date backups ready for recovery if needed.

Archiving recommendations

  1. Before transferring the database, changing system settings, inventory, or updating the accounting system, always make an archive in the cloud or on an external disk.
  2. Store product photos in the cloud – Torgsoft will help automate this. The method of synchronizing the photo archive with Google Drive is as follows: if a photo is changed on the computer, it will be updated in the cloud, and if the photo is no longer in the catalog, it will be deleted from Google Drive.
  3. Store descriptions in product cards because Google prefers unique descriptions and characteristics over copied or parsed descriptions from other sites. Product descriptions in Torgsoft will be stored along with the database on Google Drive.
  4. Store the database on an external disk to have access to information without an Internet connection.
  5. If Google Drive storage space runs out, free up the storage or purchase additional volume.
  6. Ensure you have access to the Google account where the database is archived and set up two-factor authentication to confirm login, for example, via an SMS code. Never share your Google account access data with others.
