Сканер штрих-кодтардың қандай түрлерін оқиды?
18.02.2023 14:25To work with Torgsoft, we recommend using barcodes of EAN13 format. With EAN13, you can label more than 1 billion unique products.
If there is no manufacturer's barcode on the package, the program will generate a unique product barcode, which can be used to label the package.
Each scanner is capable of reading a number of barcodes. Each of these types of barcodes has its own characteristics and is used in different industries and applications. For example, EAN-13 and UPC are often used for product identification in stores, QR-codes are widely used in marketing and advertising, and Data Matrix and PDF417 — in logistics and manufacturing.
Below we look at the varieties of barcodes and what they are designed for.
Linear, one-dimensional — 1D barcodes
EAN -European Article Number. EAN-8 consists of 8 digits, EAN-13 — 13 digits. EAN-13 code consists of three parts: first two digits stand for country code, next five digits for manufacturer code and last six digits for product code. This barcode format is one of the most common and is used by retailers and accounting software Torgsoft.
UPC (UPC-A, UPC-E) — Universal Product Code — is a one-dimensional 1D barcode for identifying goods in stores.
Code128 — Can contain any of 103 ASCII characters. It consists of wide and narrow stripes, six elements: a start character, data, a checksum, a stop character and two check digits. The data is encoded in the width and arrangement of the bars.
Codabar — used to encode digital characters and a few special characters. It was developed in 1972 by Pitney Bowes for tracking postal and financial documents. Codabar encodes the numbers 0-9, special characters ($, +, -, /, .) and the beginning and ending characters A, B, C, D, T, *, E, N. Typically used in libraries, pharmacies, and logistics where a small number of characters need to be encoded.
Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) — This is one of the standard barcode formats for identifying and controlling the flow of goods. ITF uses only digits and can only encode an even number of digits. The first digit is often used as a prefix to indicate the type of information that is encoded in the barcode. For example, a «0» prefix indicates a product unit (SKU), and a «2» prefix indicates the weight of an item. ITF is used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing and logistics, as well as for marking magnetic tapes and other materials in libraries, warehouses and manufacturing plants.
DUN-14 — Data Universal Numbering System 14 — is used for marking and identifying packages of goods in retail and logistics. It is a variant of EAN-14 barcode and can contain additional information about products — production date, expiration date and batch number. It consists of 14 digits, which can be divided into two parts: the first two digits indicate the country of origin (country code), the next five digits — the manufacturer's code, and the remaining seven digits — a unique product package number.
Two-dimensional — 2D barcodes
Aztec Code — The Aztec barcode is a two-dimensional matrix code developed by Welch Allyn, Inc. in 1995. It is a square matrix of cells in which data is encoded. Aztec Code is used to encode large amounts of information, such as in traffic tickets, business cards, product labels, and other places where a compact code is needed.
Data Matrix — A square matrix of cells. It can hold up to several hundred characters depending on the size of the matrix and is used in various fields, such as automotive industry, logistics, health care and others, where a compact storage of large amounts of information is needed.
Maxi Code — developed by UPS in 1992. It is used for marking and tracking packages and postal items. It contains information about the address of the recipient, the sender, the type of shipment and other delivery details. The barcode is shaped like a circle divided into sectors, each containing a certain amount of data. It can contain up to 93 characters of information.
PDF417 is a 2D barcode with a stack. Capable of encoding a large amount of data, including text and binary data, in a relatively small space. The barcode consists of rows of linear patterns stacked on top of each other, with each row being a set of data. It is used in airline boarding passes, driver's licenses, and e-tickets. PDF417 encodes up to 1,850 characters of information.
QR code — Quick Response code — is a two-dimensional matrix barcode that stores a large amount of data in a small space. It was invented in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave to keep track of car parts during production. QR codes can be scanned with a smartphone camera or most modern barcode scanners. QR codes can store information such as website URLs, contact information, text, and more. Used in marketing and advertising, logistics, and inventory management.
