System requirements for the computer to operate the accounting software Torgsoft

The operating system for Torgsoft – is Windows

General requirements

Torgsoft accounting software runs on the Windows operating system:

Windows 7 SP1 Windows 8.1 Windows 10 Windows 11 Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2016 Windows Server 2019 Windows Server 2022

Database management system – MS SQL Server 2017, 2016, 2014.

Torgsoft can run on both a desktop computer and a laptop. The software can also be installed on a tablet with Windows 8, 10. Or use an Android or iOS tablet for client connection to a terminal license.

Please note: the standard computer requirements are specified below, but in each particular case they may vary depending on the type of business, turnover, and the number of users working simultaneously.

Technical support will help you choose the computer configuration that meets your needs.

One computer in the store

In this case, the Torgsoft-Start or Torgsoft-Ultra version is installed on the computer.

If the accounting software runs on one computer without using a local network, then:

Software for a small store

Minimum requirements for comfortable operation:

  • Processor with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz.
  • 2 GB of RAM.
  • Integrated video and sound card,
  • 10 GB of free hard disk space for storing database backups.
  • Screen resolution of 1024х768.

Recommended requirements:

  • Dual-core processor,
  • 4 GB of RAM or more.
  • At least 20 GB of free hard disk space for database backups.

Several computers in the store

Each computer on the local network must have a unique name. If you plan to use up to 4 computers connected by a local network in one store, then:

Software for a large store

Server requirements:

  • Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 processor or comparable AMD processors, preferably with a clock speed of 2.8 GHz or higher.
  • 4 GB of RAM or more.
  • More than 20 GB of free hard disk space for database backups.

Workstation requirements – entry-level computer:

  • Processor with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.
  • 1 GB of RAM,
  • Integrated video and sound card.

If more than four computers will operate on the local network, the server configuration should be upgraded.

Online retail network management via the Internet

Torgsoft accounting software in terminal mode works with the Torgsoft-Terminal license and on Standard and Datacenter editions of server operating systems (except Windows Server operating system editions intended for evaluation - Standard Evaluation and Datacenter Evaluation):

  • Windows Server 2008 R2,
  • Windows Server 2012,
  • Windows Server 2016,
  • Windows Server 2019,
  • Windows Server 2022,

or other Windows systems that support remote desktops – Remote Desktop Protocol.

Accounting software for a retail network

Server requirements depend on the number of users connected simultaneously. Recommended specifications:

  • Server based on Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 with at least 4 MB of cache, or comparable AMD processors.
  • RAM: 8 GB or more (approximately 150-300 MB of RAM for each connection + at least 4 GB for server operation).

The required amount of RAM also depends on the level of access the user has on the server: for example, whether they can use a browser or whether other business applications are running on the server.

To work in terminal mode, the server must be configured. This can be done by your system administrator or by Torgsoft technical support specialists — the service costs 3000 UAH.

Hard drive for the server

Choose SSD drives for operation – they are much faster, which significantly affects the performance and calculations of the accounting system.

HDD drives are cheaper but slower — the technology is outdated, so they should only be used for data storage.

Salesperson's computer

Requirements for client computers for working with Torgsoft-Terminal are minimal – any Windows desktop computer or laptop will do.

Internet requirements

The server requires:

  • a static IP address on the server computer,
  • a wired 10-100-1000 Mbit/s connection.

For stores – client computers, the following are suitable:

  • a regular Internet provider with a dynamic or static IP address, or
  • a 3G modem with a speed of at least 2-4 Mbit/s.

Estimated traffic: 2.5-3 GB (1 connection, 30 days of store operation, 10-hour working day).

If there is no server

If you do not have a server or do not want to buy and configure one – you can rent a server.

Torgsoft-Online

Does Torgsoft work on macOS?

The accounting software runs on the Windows operating system, where the main computing processes take place, the database operates correctly and consistently, and retail equipment connects correctly.

macOS can only be used as a client computer that connects to the main server using the Microsoft Remote Desktop application. macOS works correctly with barcode scanners, but connecting receipt or label printers will be a non-trivial task.

Retail equipment for a point of sale

Scanner, which will significantly simplify searching for products in the database by barcode and speed up sales and inventory processes.

Label printer for labeling products and printing barcodes when goods are received.

Receipt printer for printing non-fiscal and fiscal receipts of the software cash register.

Additional recommendations for working with the accounting software

Install antivirus software on the server and salespersons' computers to proactively protect accounting data.

The accounting system database is protected by regular backups. For automatic backup to Google Drive, activate the additional Torgsoft option «Data security: cloud backup».

The software can run on both a desktop computer and a laptop.

A laptop can run for several hours on battery power and has a compact size – this is relevant for stores with limited counter space.

Advantages of a desktop computer: better configuration at a lower cost. We recommend installing an uninterruptible power supply for the computer to avoid losing current work data in the event of a power outage.
