Why sleep mode matters
When the computer hosting the database goes to sleep, other workstations may lose their connection to it. This is especially important if a regular computer in the store is temporarily serving as the server. First, determine where the database is hosted and whether that device needs to remain accessible during the workday.
What to check in Windows
In the power settings for the computer hosting the database, configure sleep according to the work schedule and the administrator's requirements. For a laptop, check what happens when the lid is closed and when it runs on battery power. After changing the settings, check the connection from another workstation. If the connection drops even when the computer is not sleeping, check the network and database service separately.
