Start with a day in your store
Choose inventory software based on how products, money, and information move through your business. Describe what you sell, how you receive deliveries, what the cashier does, who needs access to data, and whether you have a website or multiple sales locations.
Then test these scenarios before buying. Check whether employees can complete their tasks conveniently and whether the owner can review the results. Prepare examples of your own products and transactions.
Six areas to check
Products and special workflows
For clothing, check sizes and colors; for groceries, weight and labeling; for electronics, serial numbers and warranty; for building materials, length, area, and packaging. Use your own products to see how easy they are to receive, find, and sell. If you rent out goods, repair items, or manufacture products, include each process in your checks. Find out which capabilities are included in the selected configuration and which require additional options.
Checkout and equipment
Ask the sales assistant to find a product, process a discounted sale, accept payment, and process a return. In Torgsoft, you can set a discount on a product during a sale.
If you need a software cash register (PRRO), fiscal registrar, bank terminal, scales, scanner, or label printer, write down the exact models. Before buying, check compatibility, how each device works, and what settings and options are required. Test the exact setup your store will use.
Employee tasks
Cashiers need sales functions, stock clerks need receiving and inventory functions, and managers need reports and oversight. List the actions allowed for each role. Check separately who can change prices, process returns, delete documents, and view financial information. Ask to see how access is restricted, then test the system using an account for the relevant employee.
Information for the owner
Decide what you want to check each day: revenue, stock levels, cash flow, sales by product, results by location, or staff performance. After test transactions, find the relevant reports and compare them with the actions you performed. Check how receipts, sales, returns, transfers, and payments appear in the results.
Online sales and multiple locations
If you have an online store, sell on Prom.ua or Rozetka, or operate a warehouse or multiple stores, describe how products and orders move between them. Find out where prices and stock levels will come from, and how orders and returns will be processed. Test each channel you need separately, including the terms for exchanging data between locations.
Future expansion
You may have one checkout today and add a new location, warehouse, website, or workflow later. Before purchasing, find out what that expansion will require: workstations, equipment, settings, and options. Ask for an explanation of the differences between the proposed licenses. Also ask whether you can continue keeping records in the system and what will happen to the data you have accumulated.

Make your own test plan
List your 5–10 most frequent operations: receiving goods, sales, returns, stocktaking, purchasing, reports, and customer management. For each one, specify who performs it and what result you expect. For example, after a return, check the product, the money, and how the transaction appears in the report.
Workflow → person responsible → result to check.
Keep track of questions during the test: what employees understand, where training is needed, and which settings have not yet been checked. Choose a configuration after reviewing these questions with a specialist.
Arrange launch assistance in advance
Before buying, find out who will help install the software and configure workstations and equipment, and who will answer questions after launch. Torgsoft technical support is provided remotely; self-guided learning resources include video lessons, articles, podcasts, and instructions. Check the service page for the scope of work and support terms.
