First test sale at Torgsoft: what to check before launching a store
Launching a store is always stressful. The worst thing that can happen on opening day is a queue of customers waiting while the salesperson tries to figure out why the scanner “beeps but does not add the product”, or why blank tape comes out instead of a receipt.
To make the first working day run smoothly, you need to perform a test run. This route will help you check all critical points in the equipment, program, and fiscalization settings.

Stage 1. Hardware check: testing the equipment
Before opening the sale form, make sure that all devices “communicate” with the program correctly.
-
Barcode scanner. Check the “Enter” suffix setting. The scanner should not only read the barcode but also automatically add the product to the cart without additional keyboard actions.
-
Receipt printer. Go to the menu item Settings -> Printer selection and make sure that the correct device is selected in the “Print on printer” field.
-
Tape width. Check whether the receipt template matches your printer. The templates are automatically configured for 80 mm tape, so if you have a 56-57 mm printer, be sure to change the template in the Settings -> Print template settings menu, otherwise the text will be cut off.
-
Bank terminal. If you have the bank terminal option connected, make sure it is configured for the required protocol (for example, JSON, BPOS, PosApi) and has a stable connection (IP address reservation in the router if it works over the network).
Stage 2. Security and access restrictions: testing the “Salesperson”
The owner always works with full rights, but sales will be handled by an employee. You need to test the system under the Salesperson role.
-
Prohibition of selling into negative stock. Go to Settings -> Parameters -> Accounting and in the “What to do if there is not enough stock when selling” field, set “Prohibit selling into negative stock”. This will protect you from stock mismatches and fictitious sales of non-existent goods.
-
Blocking price changes. Make sure that the “Change sale price in sale” permission is disabled in the salesperson role settings. The salesperson should not be able to lower the price on their own and take the difference.
-
Prohibition of deleting products from the receipt. In the role settings (Settings -> Parameters -> Role), activate the switch “The salesperson cannot delete products in sale”. If the cashier accidentally scans a product, they must call the administrator to cancel it (this prevents manipulation when a product is deleted from the receipt after cash has been received).
Stage 3. Fiscalization: safely testing pECR
If you use a software ECR, you can test it without sending real financial data to the tax authority.
-
pECR test mode. Go to the software ECR settings and activate the “Test mode” setting (this can only be done when the shift is closed).
-
All receipts issued in this mode will not be fiscal. On the printed receipt itself, instead of the inscription “FISCAL RECEIPT”, it will say in capital letters “TEST NON-FISCAL RECEIPT”. This is a suitable way to check the connection with the tax authority server.
Stage 4. “Ideal first sale” scenario
Log in to the program using the Salesperson login and password.
1. Opening the shift. Open the Sale form. Click the fiscal registrar actions button and select “Open shift”. The program should connect to the server and report successful opening.
2. Scanning the product. Scan the barcode of the test product. It should instantly appear in the sale list in the quantity of 1 item.
3. Cash payment. Click the Payment button. Click “Pay”. The receipt printer should immediately print the receipt. Check whether the product name and Sole Proprietorship are displayed correctly on it.
4. Card payment (Terminal). Make another sale, but select cashless payment. The amount should be automatically transferred from Torgsoft to the bank terminal. Tap the card on the terminal. After a successful transaction, Torgsoft should automatically close the sale and print the receipt.
Please note: configure the printing of the terminal slip receipt directly in the fiscal receipt to save paper and time.
5. Processing a return. Customers often return goods, so the salesperson must know how to do this. Go to the Return form. Scan the barcode from the printed receipt or select the product manually from the list of sales.
Important for terminals: when refunding money to a bank card through the terminal, the device may ask you to enter the “Cashier number” and “Cashier password”, as well as the “Authorization code” from the sales receipt (this information is provided by the bank).
6. Closing the shift (Z-report). At the end of the day, the salesperson must close the shift. Do this through the pECR menu by selecting “Print Z-report”. Check whether the cash amount matches.

Stage 5. Cleaning the database before launch
After you have tested sales, receipts, and returns, the database should be put in order so that these figures do not distort your analytics in the future.
-
Canceling test actions. If you made test sales in regular (not test) mode, the best way to align stock balances is simply to make Returns for all these receipts. Then the goods will return to stock, and the money will be “written off” from the cash register.
-
Global cleanup. If during training you created hundreds of test documents (receipts, write-offs, transfers), you can delete them in the Warehouse — Receipt list and Warehouse — Expense list menus.
If you have completed all 5 stages and none of them caused a technical failure, your store is fully ready for real work with customers.
