To help customers choose a product and complete checkout, check that the information on your site is consistent. A product page needs a description, images, price, and availability. The cart needs products, quantities, and prices. During checkout, show delivery details, the final total, and clear messages.

Finish the check on the confirmation screen. Compare the displayed details with the test order. Record each discrepancy as a specific task: what to fix, which page it affects, and how to check the result.

Prepare product details for selection and comparison

Review an individual product page. Check the name, description, images, price, currency, availability, and purchase button. If the product has variants, verify the information for the selected variant.

To check comparisons, choose two similar products. Identify the characteristics that help distinguish them, and present values in the same order and units of measurement. For example, you could compare tableware by volume, material, and dimensions. This is a recommendation for organizing descriptions; choose the characteristics based on your assortment.

Try to explain the differences between the products using only their pages. If a value is missing, clarify it before publication. Check that the image matches the product and selected variant described.

Compare availability from the product page through checkout

Availability in the product data should match availability on its page and on the checkout pages. Check the same item throughout, including the selected variant.

Check an in-stock product and a product with zero stock separately. Record the initial data and the messages the site displays at each stage. If they contradict one another, send the catalog or synchronization owner a precise example. Repeat this scenario after the correction.

Check the cart, delivery, and final total

Customers should be able to review the cart contents: product details, quantities, and the prices of individual items. Compare this list with what you selected on the product pages. Change the quantity and check the calculation again.

Show all components that change the amount due, along with the final total, in one summary. Include only components that actually apply. Check whether the calculation can be understood from the displayed amounts.

Show delivery methods, their costs, and estimated dates at the start of checkout. For each available method, compare the displayed cost with the total. Label an estimated date as an estimate.

Check field labels and error correction

As one form layout option, place labels above the input fields and align them to the left. Review the result on a phone and a computer. Check that it is clear which field each label belongs to.

An error message should suggest how to fix the error. Intentionally leave a required field blank and try to continue checkout. Follow the action stated in the message. If the text does not explain what needs to be corrected, prepare a specific hint for that error.

Check the result after completing checkout

In a test scenario, check whether a clear message appears confirming that the order was received. Use the order details and confirmation number as a guide for the check. Compare the products, quantities, and selected variants with the cart.

Separately check the successful payment scenario: verify the quantity, sizes or other selected product variants, and the availability of a support contact. For manual payment, check the method name and the instructions for completing payment. Make sure the message reflects the actual result of this scenario.

As a guide to what the confirmation should contain, also check the selected payment method, fulfillment method, and estimated delivery date. If the store provides an agreed pickup time slot, check how it is displayed. These are items to check on your site; determine during testing whether they are present.

Hypothetical example of a store owner’s check

Suppose an owner is checking a tableware store. The products, amounts, and results below are hypothetical. The arithmetic illustrates how to check the total.

  1. Compare two cups by volume, material, and dimensions. Record any missing characteristics.
  2. Compare the availability of the selected cup in the data, on its page, and during checkout.
  3. Add a cup priced at UAH 300 and change the quantity to two. Check the product subtotal: 300 × 2 = UAH 600.
  4. Select hypothetical delivery costing UAH 80. If there are no other components, the final total is UAH 680. Check the delivery and estimated date.
  5. Leave a required field blank, read the hint, and correct the error.
  6. Complete the test checkout. Check the order received message, confirmation number, two selected cups, payment method, and fulfillment method. If manual payment was selected, check the instructions.

How to check availability synchronization in Torgsoft

If you use online store synchronization with Torgsoft, check the “Synchronize only in-stock products” setting. When this setting is enabled, products with a quantity of zero or less are removed from the online store.

Before applying it, determine whether removing these products fits the way you manage your catalog. After synchronization, compare the quantity of the selected item with its presence on the site. The process is described in the instructions for synchronizing an online store with Torgsoft.

This check shows the result of the specified setting. Check the cart, delivery calculation, form, error messages, and order confirmation separately on the site.
