Product rental — is a Torgsoft option for businesses that rent out goods for a period of time: wedding dresses, sports equipment, tools, costumes, equipment.
The program creates a rental agreement, records the deposit, controls return deadlines, and calculates payment by hour or day. The deposit can be required as mandatory or the goods can be rented without it. After the rental is completed, the program can be used to enter payment and return the deposit. Goods that are currently rented are protected from accidental sale.
Reservation allows you to book an item for a specific date — for example, a wedding dress for the ceremony day. The entire rental history is stored in the program. The option is suitable for wedding dress salons, bicycle rental, ski rental, tool rental, and festive accessories rental.

What product rental in Torgsoft is
Rental is giving a product to a customer for temporary use for a fee. Unlike a sale, the product is returned, while the business earns from the rental and controls the deposit. The «Product rental» option manages this entire cycle: from creating the agreement to returning the deposit. A product that is currently rented is automatically reserved and does not go into regular sale.

Who does not need it. If you only sell goods and do not rent them out, you will not need this option. The basic Torgsoft functionality is enough for regular sales.
When to connect it immediately
- you rent out goods and want to record deposits and deadlines in the program;
- the same product is sometimes rented and sometimes sold — and it needs to be protected from accidental sale;
- customers book goods in advance for a specific date;

What tasks the option solves
How it looks before and after
Before
Deadlines and deposits are in a notebook, the agreement is handwritten, rented goods are sometimes sold from the cash register, and by the end of the day it is hard to understand what has not yet been returned.
After
Every rental with dates, deposit, and customer is in the program, the product is reserved, the agreement is printed immediately, and active rentals are visible by color.
How it works: 6 steps
Setup. In the menu Document → Trade with invoice issuing → tab Rental, open «Rental settings»: specify when the customer pays (when created or at the start) and whether to reduce the deposit by the rental amount. Save and restart the program.
Creating a rental. On the «Rental» tab, click «Add». Fill in the number, rental type (hourly or daily), start and end date, select the customer and responsible employee.
Adding a product. Through the «Rental directory», select a product, add it to the rental, and specify the price per hour or day and the deposit amount.
Starting the rental. Accept the deposit or enter the prepayment and change the status to «Rental started». If no deposit is needed, you can specify a zero deposit amount in the rental directory.
Control. Active rentals are marked in green, completed ones — in gray. The invoice icon in the «Number» column means the product is reserved and unavailable for sale.
Completion. Change the status to «Rental completed». The program will offer to enter the rental payment and return the deposit — the details are inserted automatically.
Deposit and prepayment. You can configure the program flexibly: require a deposit always or rent out goods without it by specifying a zero deposit amount in the rental directory.

Scenarios by niche
Wedding dress salon
A customer books a dress two months before the wedding. The program reserves it for the date, records the deposit, and after the return calculates the payment and returns the deposit. The dress will not be sold accidentally because it is reserved.
Bicycle and ski rental
Hourly rental: the price per hour is set, and a deposit is taken at the start. At the end, the program calculates the amount for the actual time, returns the deposit, and closes the rental.
Tool rental
Daily rental of expensive tools with a mandatory deposit. The entire customer history is stored, so you can see who rents regularly and whether there are any overdue returns.
Example
The scenario is illustrative. A wedding dress salon used to keep reservations in a notebook: they wrote down the wedding date, phone number, and advance payment amount. From time to time, one dress was promised to two customers for the same date, and deposits were confused with each other.
After connecting the option, each dress is booked for a specific date in the program, the deposit is processed with a financial document, and the dress in rental does not go into sale. At the end of the rental, the program itself offers to enter the payment and return the deposit using the saved details.
