Instructions for connecting and ensuring stable operation of the Newland N950 bank POS terminal in the Torgsoft software

Instructions for connecting and ensuring stable operation of the Newland N950 bank POS terminal in the Torgsoft software via the network (Wi-Fi/LAN) using the JSON (COM/TCP) protocol.

These instructions involve changing the settings of the bank terminal, network, router, and integration parameters in Torgsoft, so they must be followed carefully. Incorrectly changing the IP address, port, terminal operating mode, or merchants may completely block payment acceptance at the checkout. Before starting, make sure that the bank has already enabled the cash register integration mode and the JSON protocol, and also record the current network settings. If you do not have access to the router, terminal, or banking parameters, contact your system administrator or the bank’s technical support.

When you need to connect the Newland N950 via JSON

First connection of the Newland N950 terminal (usually from PrivatBank).
Switching from USB to a network connection for stability.
Communication errors or frozen payments.

How to tell that the terminal is connected incorrectly

A Timeout error or «No connection to the terminal».
The message DeviceBusy / Device is busy.
The payment goes through on the terminal but is not recorded in Torgsoft.

Why the Newland N950 does not work stably with Torgsoft

The terminal has not been switched by the bank to cash register integration mode.
A variable (dynamic) IP address on the local network.
Missing or incorrect port forwarding when using RDP.
The terminal switches to mobile internet or «goes to sleep».

How to configure the Newland N950 to work with Torgsoft

Step 1. Preparing the terminal through the bank

Contact the bank’s technical support and request the following:

1.
Enable cash register integration mode (cash register integration).
2.
Set the JSON protocol.

If the bank has not switched the terminal to this mode, connection with Torgsoft is impossible.

Step 2. Network configuration (router)

2.1. IP reservation (Static DHCP)

Be sure to assign a permanent internal IP address to the terminal by its MAC address in the router or on the terminal itself. This prevents loss of connection after the router is rebooted.

2.2. Port Forwarding (if the cash register works via RDP)

Required if Torgsoft is running on a remote server.

Internal terminal port: 2000.
External port: 2000 (or another one if there are several terminals).
The store must have a static external IP address.
Example for several terminals:
Terminal
Internal IP
Internal port
External port
No.1
192.168.1.101
2000
2000
No.2
192.168.1.102
2000
2001
No.3
192.168.1.103
2000
2002

Step 3. Settings in the Torgsoft software

1.
Menu Settings → Parameters → Additional functions → Bank terminal.
2.
Click Add and specify:
Terminal type: Newland (or PAX, if the protocol is identical).
Protocol type: JSON (COM/TCP).
3.
Connection parameters:
Host IP:
local IP (on the same network), or
the store’s external IP (when using RDP)
Port: 2000 (or the forwarded external port).
Timeout: 60-180 seconds.

Step 4. Merchant settings

Add the following in the terminal card:

Payment:
merchant number: 1
Refund (Refund):
merchant number: 5 or 2 (depends on the terminal settings).
enable «Use service».

Or Payment_refund:

merchant number: 1

How to check that the terminal is working correctly

1.
Restart the terminal and Torgsoft.
2.
Perform a test sale for 1 UAH.
3.
Check that:
the terminal activates automatically;
the payment is successful;
the receipt is recorded in Torgsoft.
4.
Perform a refund to check the Refund merchant.

How to avoid terminal malfunctions

Disable mobile data on the terminal — leave only Wi-Fi/LAN.
Do not use SIM routers with IPv6 and no IPv4 (a frequent cause of disconnections).
Before payment, the terminal must be in the Cash Register Integration menu (not in the service menu — otherwise DeviceBusy).
Do not change IP addresses without updating the settings in Torgsoft.

What is important to remember

For stable operation of the Newland N950 with Torgsoft, three mandatory conditions are required: cash register integration mode, a static IP address, and the JSON (COM/TCP) protocol. The absence of any one of them leads to failures or a complete lack of connection.
