Banking terminal does not connect after resetting or replacing the router

Instructions for restoring the connection between Torgsoft and the bank terminal after router settings have been reset, the provider has been changed, or the local network has been modified.

When the connection with the terminal disappears after a network change

• After a router reset or replacement of network equipment.

• After changing the internet provider.

• After reconfiguring the local network or DHCP.

How to understand that the POS no longer sees the terminal

• Payment from Torgsoft does not start (the "Waiting for card" window does not appear).

• Connection errors: Socket error, Connection timed out, Host not found.

• The terminal is turned on and has internet access, but the POS cannot connect to it.

Why Torgsoft cannot connect to the terminal after changing the router 

1. The terminal IP address has changed: the router DHCP server assigned a new address.

2. No reservation: the rule for binding the IP address to the MAC address was deleted when the router was reset.

3. Port Forwarding rules were deleted: (relevant only for RDP / remote POS) — the router no longer forwards external requests to the terminal.

How to restore the connection with the bank terminal

Step 1. Find out the current IP address of the terminal

The terminal has received a new address. Find it in one of the following ways:

A. Through the terminal menu (more reliable):

• how to do this is better to check with the bank that provided the terminal.

B. Through a network scanner (from a PC):

1. Run Advanced IP Scanner.

2. Find the device with the manufacturer name (PAX, Ingenico, Verifone, Newland, etc.).

Step 2. Fix the IP address in the router (Required)

To prevent the issue from recurring tomorrow:

1. Log in to the router admin panel (usually 192.168.0.1 or 1.1).

2. Find the DHCP Reservation section (or Static IP).

3. Bind the found IP address to the terminal MAC address.

4. Save the settings.

(Only for RDP/Internet: reconfigure Port Forwarding to the terminal internal IP address. Ports: B-POS, JSON (COM/TCP) - 2000; JSON (WebSocket), SSI_JSON - 3000; PosApi - 5001).

Step 3. Update the settings in Torgsoft

1. Menu Settings → Parameters → Additional Features → Bank Terminal.

2. Select the workplace → Edit.

3. Enter the current IP address:

•    for the local network: the new IP (for example, 192.168.0.105).

•    for RDP: the external static IP of the router.

4. Check the port.

5. Click Save.

How to check that the terminal connection has been restored

1. Menu Settings → Parameters → Additional Features → Bank Terminal, select the terminal and the corresponding payment merchant at the bottom of the form, click the "Test terminal payment" button, and make sure that the payment amount has been sent to the bank terminal.

How to avoid losing the connection again

1. Always configure DHCP Reservation for any retail equipment.

2. For work via RDP, obtain a static external IP address for the store router from your provider.

3. Disable Sleep Mode in the terminal menu.
