Exceeded number of workstations" error when working with a banking POS terminal

The «Exceeded number of workstations» error means that Torgsoft cannot activate integration with the bank terminal because the available number of licensed connections for this feature has been exhausted, or old bindings to other workstations remain in the system.

When the workstation count error appears

  • When attempting to pay by card through a connected terminal.

  • After reinstalling Windows or changing the computer name.

  • When adding a new cash register if an additional license has not been purchased.

How to understand that the workstation limit has been triggered

  • Pop-up window: «Exceeded number of workstations».

  • The terminal does not activate automatically when you click «Pay».

  • The program offers only manual operating mode.

Why the «Exceeded number of workstations» error appears

  1. Actual limit exceeded. The number of active cash registers exceeds the number of licenses for the “Bank terminal connection” option.

  2. «Phantom» workstations. After renaming a PC or reinstalling the OS, the old computer name remains in the database as "occupied".

  3. Frozen session. The licensing service did not update the connection status.

How to remove the error and restore terminal operation

Step 1. Check licenses

Bank terminal connection  

  1. Open Settings — List of additional functions.

  2. Find the line «Bank terminal connection».

  3. Check the number of available and used licenses.

Step 2. Clear old bindings (Main method)

  1. On all PCs, go to Settings — Parameters — Additional functions.

  2. Select the Bank terminal section.

  3. Check the settings fields. If you see terminal settings on PCs where they are no longer used, click Delete (clear settings).

  4. Save and restart the program.

Step 3. Restart the service

On the main server:

  1. Start — Run — services.msc.

  2. Find the TorgsoftLicenseService service.

  3. Right-click — Restart and restart Torgsoft.

How to check that the terminal is working again

  1. Open a sale and add an item.

  2. Press F6 (Payment) → Cashless.

  3. If the error window does not appear and the terminal is initialized, the issue has been resolved.

How to avoid the error appearing again

  • Delete the settings of trading equipment before changing the computer.

  • Do not configure terminal connections on computers where they are not mainly used.

  • Do not change the Computer Name unless necessary.
