How to Configure Printing of Dynamic Characteristics, SKUs, and Supplier Codes on Labels and Documents in Torgsoft
In modern retail and wholesale trade, the standard product name and price are often not enough for effective work with customers and partners. Entrepreneurs regularly face tasks where they need to provide a customer or supplier with an extended product specification. How can you add the supplier's internal code to a delivery note so that the partner can quickly compare sales with their stock balances? How can you print the fabric composition or size on a product label? How can you show additional product parameters together with a photo in a wholesale price list? How can you print a short product name on an invoice without our internal SKU? How can you add the UKT ZED code to documents for legal entities?
To solve these tasks, Torgsoft provides a flexible mechanism for working with print templates through the built-in FastReport editor, as well as a system of additional and dynamic product characteristics.
Basic Concepts and Current Functionality
Before proceeding to the settings, let us define the main terms used in the software to provide detailed product information:
-
Dynamic product characteristics — additional parameters created by the user for a specific product type, for example: size, color, material, screen diagonal, warranty period, etc.
-
Supplier's internal code — a unique product identifier used directly by the manufacturer or supplier. It may differ from your SKU or barcode.
-
UKT ZED code — the Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity, a mandatory detail for tax invoices and receipts for certain groups of goods.
-
FastReport — the print template editor built into Torgsoft that allows you to change the appearance of labels, delivery notes, invoices, and reports by adding the required variables from the database.
Step-by-Step Guide to Displaying Extended Information
1. Displaying Characteristics on Labels (Price Tags)
A product label should be informative for a retail customer. Displaying dynamic parameters such as country of origin, composition, or warranty period increases customer confidence.
Configuration steps:
-
Make sure that dynamic characteristics are assigned to the product in the product type card and filled in for the specific product.
-
Open Settings — Label Print Settings.
-
Select the required template and click Edit.
-
Be sure to select «Use additional product parameters in the template». This is a critical step; without it, dynamic characteristics will not be passed to the print editor.
-
Click Settings to open the FastReport editor.
-
In the right-hand part of the editor window, in the Data Tree panel (DB Fields), find the required characteristics. They will be displayed in Russian/Ukrainian exactly as you named them when creating them. Drag the required field onto the label form in the MasterData area.
-
Save the template.

2. Displaying Codes and SKUs in Delivery Notes and Invoices
When working with legal entities (B2B segment) or returning goods to a supplier, it is essential to work with their codes.
Adding the Supplier's Internal Code:
-
Enable accounting for this code: Settings — Parameters — Product — Product has supplier's internal code. Enter the code in the product card on the «Add.» tab.
-
Open Settings — Print Template Settings.
-
Select a template, for example, «Retail Delivery Note (Sale)» or «Supplier Order», and click Settings.
-
In the FastReport editor, drag the «Supplier's Internal Code» field from the product dataset into the tabular section of the document.
Adding the UKT ZED code: the «Product code according to UKT ZED» field is already available in the datasets for the «Delivery Note» templates in the Sale and Trade with Invoice modes. Simply add this field as a new column to the tabular section of your template using the FastReport editor.
3. Creating Informative Price Lists
Wholesale customers often request a price list that includes photos and specifications such as material, size, and code in addition to the price and product name.
How to configure it:
-
Go to Warehouse — Stock Status. Print either «Price List with Photos» or «Price List by Product Type».
-
Open the template settings.
-
The datasets for these reports already contain dynamic product characteristics, as well as Supplier's Internal Code and Quantity.
-
Place these variables next to the product name or price in the template so that your partner receives a comprehensive electronic or printed catalog.

Frequently Asked Questions from Entrepreneurs and Expert Answers
The supplier requires a sales report for their products but wants their SKU to be shown instead of our internal one. How can this be done?
You need to use the Analysis — Analysis of Supplier Product Sales on Consignment report. The dataset for this report includes the «Size» and «Supplier's Internal Code» fields. If you have previously filled in the internal code field in the product cards, you can display it in the print template for this report. This will allow the supplier to instantly compare your sales with their stock balances.
We sell products to retail customers and do not want our complex internal SKUs or full names with characteristics to appear on invoices and delivery notes. How can we shorten the name?
To solve this task, the «Short Product Name» variable has been added to the invoice and delivery note print templates in the «Sale» and «Trade with Invoice» modes. You can replace the standard «Product Name» field with «Short Product Name» in the FastReport editor. This allows you to hide unnecessary internal information from the retail customer.
When printing a label, the text of a dynamic characteristic is cut off if the description is too long. What should be done?
This is a feature of how FastReport components work. To ensure that information on a sheet or label is displayed in full and wraps to the next line, you need to change the properties of the text field (Memo). In the editor, select the field, find the StretchMode parameter in the left properties panel, and set it to smActualHeight. For the data band itself (MasterData), you also need to set the Stretched property to true. The field height will then automatically adjust to the amount of text.
If a characteristic has the «Logical» type (Yes/No switch), how will it appear on the label?
When logical dynamic characteristics are printed on a label, the software automatically converts them into clear text. If the switch is enabled, the word «Yes» will be printed on the label; if it is disabled, «No» will be printed.
Can information about the warehouse employee who picked the order be added to the shipping label?
Yes. In the «Trade with Invoice» mode, when using the «Print Shipping Label» action, the «Employee» variable has been added to the dataset. This makes it possible to clearly identify the responsible employee who created the delivery note and picked the shipment, which significantly simplifies internal control.
Properly configuring the display of characteristics and codes in Torgsoft makes it possible to significantly improve communication with both B2B partners by using their product nomenclature and retail customers through informative price tags and clear receipts. Print templates are configured once, after which the system will automatically generate the correct documents.
